Dr. DeSando joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 1989 and practices in our Carbondale office. She is a consulting optometrist for Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Clarks Summit State Hospital. About
Dr. DeSando received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton majoring in biology. She went on to earn a second Bachelor of Science in visual science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She completed her externship at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, Northeastern Eye Institute and at Eye Associates in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. DeSando is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Optometric Society. She specializes in general optometry, binocular vision, geriatric eye care and is certified in the therapeutic treatment and management of ocular disease as well as pre- and post-operative care to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients.
The Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services with the Department of Welfare recognized Dr. De Sando as a state approved low-vision specialist. She also co-directs the Binocular Vision Center at Northeastern Eye Institute located at our Mid Valley office.
Dr. DeSando specializes in general optometry, binocular vision, geriatric eye care and is certified in the therapeutic treatment and management of ocular disease as well as pre- and post-operative care to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and LASIK patients.
