Dr. Angela Tempesta joined Northeastern Eye Institute in 2022 and practices in our Scranton office. Dr. Tempesta worked as an Optometrist with Wills Eye Ophthalmology Clinic in Philadelphia, PA., where she provided comprehensive eye examinations with an emphasis on diagnosing and managing ocular disease with appropriate surgical referrals, as needed. She also provided soft contact lens fittings including toric, monovision, and multifocal lenses, and she also co-managed post-op exams for cataract and refractive surgeries.

In addition to Peckville, this office also serves the communities of Dickson City, Olyphant, Blakely, Jessup, Eynon and Archbald. There is easy access and ample parking available at this location.

Our Scranton office is home to our Ambulatory Surgical Center where we offer LASIK, cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, and other eye surgeries to correct retina issues for patients in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and other nearby areas in northeastern Pennsylvania.

About

Education

Dr. Tempesta received her bachelor's degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University and was the VP of the Pre-Optometry Society, a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta Preprofessional Honor Society and Unite for Sight. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, Philadelphia, PA.

She also completed externship rotations as an Ocular Disease Intern at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL., where she preformed comprehensive eye exams with emphasis on diagnosing and managing glaucoma. She also worked with various optometrists and optometric residents co-managing ocular manifestations of systemic diseases. Dr. Tempesta also completed clinical externships at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia as an Advanced Pediatrics/Vision Therapy Intern, at Boas Vision Associates in Exton, PA., as a Contact Lens Intern, as well as right here at Northeastern Eye Institute as an Ocular Disease intern.

Dr. Tempesta was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and was an Amblyopia research assistant. Here, she focused on push-pull therapy for sensory eye dominance and was a Clinical Skills Lab Teaching Assistant.
