Northeastern Eye Institute announces the addition of Christopher S. Jordan, M.D. to the medical staff of its Honesdale location.“I’m thrilled to have Chris on board with us to increase the ophthalmology presence in our office and I’m especially happy that he is a Fellowship-trained Cornea Specialist. This addition will significantly enhance the services we’re able to provide to our patients right here in Wayne County” said John Hubbard, O.D., our former primary Optometrist at that location. For nearly 20 years, Dr. Jordan’s father, Jerome W. Jordan, M.D. has also practiced in Honesdale.
A graduate of the University of Scranton, Dr. Jordan received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Drexel University College of Medicine also in Philadelphia, PA. From there, he spent 15 months doing an intensive Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship with Corneal Consultants of Indiana and Price Vision Group, Indianapolis, IN. The fellowship entailed performing many advanced and specialized corneal transplant techniques as well as vision corrective surgery.
Northeastern Eye Institute, northeastern Pennsylvania’s largest eyecare practice, has 15 locations throughout the area. NEI has had an office in Honesdale since 1990 when Dr. Hubbard joined the group. “Previous to that, I had seen patients at Dr. Hubbard’s old office on Church St. It’s always been a pleasure taking care of my Honesdale patients and I feel this is a wonderful opportunity for my son”, said Dr. Jerome Jordan.
Like his father, Dr. Chris Jordan has surgery privileges at Wayne Memorial Hospital. “Patients get very anxious when they are scheduled for eye surgery and I know that having the procedure done at a facility right here in their community helps to make them feel more comfortable,” remarked Dr. Chris.
The Honesdale office, located at 626 Park Street, offers primary eye care including eye exams, cataract screenings and evaluations, pre-operative and post-operative eye care, LASIK consultations and a complete optical department featuring the latest in frames and contact lenses.
In addition to treating general diseases of the eye, including cataracts and glaucoma, Dr. Christopher Jordan will also treat cornea diseases and will perform cornea transplants and refractive surgery. “It’s an exciting time in ophthalmology. There have been recent advancements in surgical procedures and there are new technology intraocular lenses implanted at the time of cataract surgery that enable patients to see better than they have in years” said Dr. Chris Jordan. “We are also able to offer Custom, blade-free LASIK procedures for those who wish to end or reduce their dependence on eye glasses.”
