Alternatives to LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK eye surgery is the most popular type of vision correction because it can effectively treat a wide range of refractive disorders. However, it does not address all prescriptions and anomalies.

If you have been told that you are not a good candidate for LASIK, this does not mean that you cannot enjoy the benefits of advanced vision correction. There are several excellent alternatives to LASIK that can provide you with the same high-quality results.

Other LASIK Alternatives

Apart from the Visian ICL, there are other alternatives to LASIK, such as PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) and LASEK. Both of these procedures are similar to LASIK, except for the fact that they do not use a corneal flap. The laser is applied directly to the surface of your cornea, instead of underneath your cornea.

Because of this, PRK and LASEK are ideal for patients whose corneas are too thin to allow for the creation of a corneal flap in LASIK. Both PRK and LASEK can provide the same results as LASIK: they simply require a slightly longer recovery period.
